Livable Neighborhoods Project

Support for neighborhoods to become thriving, self-reliant communities

About Neighborhood Survival

I have started this website because I think it is essential that people wake up now to the fact that it is of utmost importance that people prepare for any disaster so that they can be proactive. I also have a vision that every neighborhood can be a thriving, self-reliant community. this has been done before. There are many examples. There are many teachings about this. I want to provide all kinds of information to help people to really transform their neighborhoods.

I feel a sense of urgency. More and more people realize how vulnerable we are. Not only in our lack of connection to and power over our food, water, and power supplies. But also because there is such a lack of community and connection in our own neighborhoods. We need each other if we are going to survive, much less thrive.

What would happen if something happened which cut off our food and water supply. If your neighbors are starving, either you are going to have to defend your food, or you will decide to help them out. I love the idea of helping them out–but I like better the idea of inspiring your neighbors to get ready. In the process, you just might find out that you have more in common than you think. You might even just become a thriving, self-reliant community by helping each other to get ready for a crisis that might not happen. That would be a wonderful gift, yes?

Reasons to prepare for emergencies

The only sure thing about the future is that there is no sure thing. Being prepared for your family and inspiring your neighbors to do the same are two of the most prudent actions you can take. No one knows what can or will affect the functioning of society. Preparing ahead can alleviate chaos and suffering.

I believe in hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

Potential disruptions in maintaining our regular way of life can be caused by a number of factors:

  • Job Loss/Unemployment
  • Economic Downturn
  • Quarantines
  • Erratic Weather - Droughts
  • Earthquakes, Hurricanes and Floods
  • Contamination of Food Supplies
  • To Avoid Dependency on Commercial Food Storage Centers
  • Transportation Disruptions
  • Martial law
  • Unavailability or high prices of oil

I hope and pray that this website will be of benefit to you, your family, your neighbors and the whole world. Just think…if every neighborhood became a thriving, self-reliant community where everyone can get their needs met…we would have one happy world! With God, nothing is impossible!

My dream is that some day I will be supported in some way to be a full time Community Organizer. Up until that time, I need to earn money for my expenses. I welcome any donations, which can be sent to PO Box 192, Kingston, AR 72742 or given to me directly.

I also have services which I offer at sliding scale cost of $7.50 an hour to $100 an hour. They are as follows:

Here are the services I offer:

Organizing: I can take complete chaos and turn it into order. In fact, the more chaos, the more satisfaction I take in getting it transformed. I can work with you directly, or I can sort things out so that you can then work on your own or with me to get things organized so that you can find things.

Project Management: I will help you plan a project step by step, and support you in accomplishing the project. I can do this either over the phone, or via internet.

Non-violent Communication: I have 19 years of experience, having raised my children using this consciousness raising model. I can give group lessons or individual coaching on line or by phone.

Secretarial work/administrative assistant: I am a fast typist, can do editing, writing, transcription, filing, organizing the office and much more!

Voice lessons: I have had extensive voice training in the Natural Approach to singing, and HOW TO TRAIN SINGERSĀ  was my “text book”

What I like about the natural approach is that it helps students develop good habits which help the voice naturally to become fuller and more expressive. I don’t try to manipulate your voice–but offer exercises that strengthen the vocal mechanism, as well as help you connect your feelings to your voice. I am very supportive and make a safe environment for learning, for I believe that singing we bare our souls and are very vulnerable.

Beginning Guitar: You can be playing songs after our first lesson–I show you simple ways to play songs without having to learn very many chords. If you want to play simple sing alongs for children, or adults–it won’t take you long to get up to speed. I was never one for practicing guitar–so I took the simplest techniques I could get that make me sound like I know what I am doing!

Life Coaching: I can support you in defining your values and from there setting and accomplishing goals with a holistic approach.

Neighborhood Organizing: I can help you set up a Community Gathering and bring your neighbors together so that you can cooperate to create a thriving, self-reliant community right where you live. You can see my vision at www.myspace.com/communitygathering

Uplifting and fun Children’s Birthday Parties: I bring music, cooperative games, stories, and a mural project so kids can have a unique experience, connect with each other, and celebrate the birthday child in a creative manner.

Gardening: I will help you start an organic garden and cultivate edible landscaping, Front yard gardening, container gardening, roof top gardening, indoor gardening, sprouting, and community gardening are some of the things I can help you with.

Living Sustainably: Includes:Rain water collection and minimizing water usage: I will help you to save and utilize water. Weather proofing your home for cutting down on energy bills. Recycling and cutting down on waste. Living simply and minimizing your carbon footprint.

Blogging: I will help you set up a wordpress blog and give tips on blogging.

Non-coercive parenting/Unschooling consulting: Having raised two children, 18 and eleven using these methods, and seeing how these ways of raising children are working so positively, I would like to encourage others to be able to utilize theĀ  skills and ideas I have collected over the years.
